HDR is a set of techniques that let the photographer achieve a greater range of luminance between the darkest and lightest tones of the image. By bracketing the exposure of a picture taken different times, each having a different exposure, plus the combination of software like Photoshop, allows the photographer to achieve this HDR effect.

Playing with my new camera, I realized that it gave me the option to bracket the exposures between the shots, making the HDR process much easier for me. I have known about HDR for a few years now, I tried it in the past with my older camera getting really nice images. However the process was a bit difficult, and getting three shots with different exposures each, meant having to play around with the shutter or aperture in between each shot. Which meant moving the camera slightly, not great when you are trying to capture the same photograph. Even with a tripod, it was never quite the same.

I tend to bike downtown on the West Side Hway, this time I decided to go up for a change. I had been to the Cloisters many years ago and remember it was a pretty high mountain; The view as I had remembered was amazing leaving me with great HDR photos.

Sunset at Long Beach

After so many attempts, with amazing results every single time; I finally caught a clear shot. Impossible to look at and impossible to capture during the day without getting an over exposed photograph. The Sun, our primal source of energy, one amongst many stars in the universe. Many secrets to life lie in it; without the sun we wouldn’t be alive. Now that I know it, the question is; how do I manage all that energy?

Full Moon

Is there almost every night, except for those cloudy and rainy nights. Do we ever take a moment to appreciate its beauty? Funny fact, there has been a star west of the moon for the past few days. Is it always there? maybe, is also the biggest and brightest star of them all. Doing some research I just found out Venus can be seeing at dusk and dawn, therefore I don’t think that bright star west of the moon is Venus. Does anybody know what star is it?
In the meantime just take a look and appreciate the beauty of the full moon. If you happen to be outside, and the sky is clear, just take a minute and look up. I will guarantee you’ll see something special!
